"Woolf’s program gave me flexible, high-quality learning that I could apply directly to my work. It strengthened my coding, system design, and strategic thinking, helping me grow in technical leadership and lifelong learning."
My Journey from India to New Jersey and Advancing Cloud Architecture
I am Pankaj Gupta, a Technical Lead at ACORD Solutions Group, where I design and develop scalable cloud-native applications to streamline and automate insurance workflows. Originally from India and now based in Little Falls, New Jersey, I’ve spent over 18 years working across the tech landscape. I hold an Advanced Diploma from C-DAC and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science, but I returned to formal education to sharpen my skills with a Master of Science in Computer Science from Woolf.
I chose Woolf because I wanted a flexible, globally recognized program that could fit into my demanding schedule. I was looking to revisit data structures and algorithms, strengthen my coding foundation, and deepen my knowledge of system design. Thankfully, Woolf’s curriculum delivered exactly that.
The best part of my experience was applying what I learned directly to my work. Every new concept had immediate relevance. A highlight was building a full-fledged capstone project from scratch — an incredibly satisfying process that brought together theory and practice.
Earning this degree allowed me to bring new strategic thinking to my role. It gave academic structure to my practical experience and helped me refine how I approach system architecture. One of the most defining moments was working through a tough module on DSA. It forced me to rethink certain design assumptions and led to more efficient solutions in my current work with microservices.
To anyone considering a Woolf program, remember that the flexibility is a gift, but you have to be proactive. Try to bring your coursework into your real-world projects — it’s the best way to see progress.
Looking ahead, I’m setting my sights on more senior technical leadership roles. My time at Woolf strengthened the foundation I needed to grow with confidence and, just as importantly, it reignited my commitment to lifelong learning.
